DCaS-R

The DCaS-R project develops a federated data space for the circular traceability of materials and waste in the construction sector. The initiative promotes the digitalization and sustainability of the sector through the creation of a Digital Waste Passport (DWP), aligned with European standards EPCIS 2.0, GS1, and IFC. This infrastructure enables the secure and standardized exchange of real data from construction sites, waste managers, and recovery operators, integrating automatic sustainability indicators such as carbon footprint, life cycle assessment, and material valorization. We have developed a federated data space that drives the circular traceability of materials and waste in construction through a Digital Waste Passport aligned with European standards. By leveraging blockchain technology, semantic ontologies, EDC connectors, and an interoperable data infrastructure based on European standards such as EPCIS 2.0, GS1, and IFC, all integrated into an i2CAT sandbox environment.

Key developments

Share real information on materials and waste through EDC (Eclipse Data Connector) connectors and a common sectoral ontology, ensuring data consistency and quality across the entire ecosystem.

Develop and validate the Digital Waste Passport (DWP), a tool that digitalizes material traceability, automates environmental indicators such as carbon footprint and life cycle assessment, and facilitates sustainable decision-making.

Drive the digital and circular transformation of the sector by fostering transparency, collaboration, and efficiency in construction processes, and by laying the foundations for a European model of environmental data exchange applicable to other industrial sectors.
