Recovery of metals and mineral fractions from steel manufacturing waste

To develop and demonstrate an industrial pyrometallurgical system, combining smelting and reduction, for the recovery and valorisation of metals and minerals present in various steel mill waste, with the aim of achieving total circularity of the process.. CELSA will provide samples of steel slag, scale and dust for the validation and demonstration of a reactor based on a reducing plasma for the deoxidation of materials. This solution would make it possible to generate an iron-rich by-product that could be used as a substitute for iron ore, thus contributing to achieving complete circularity in steel production.
